Shuinandong, along with Jinguashi and Jiufen, is part of a trio of former mining towns in Ruifang District of New Taipei City. These towns are embodiments of Taiwan's mining heritage, each showcasing distinctive aspects of the mining era. Shuinandong is known for its "13-Level Smelter," a landmark reminiscent of the ancient ruins of Pompeii, as well as the Yin Yang Sea, which displays a unique mix of yellow and blue waters, and the picturesque Golden Waterfall.¹

These areas, once thriving with mining activity, now invite visitors to delve into their history and culture, offering a reflective experience into the past. Although the mines are no longer operational, the charm and historical significance of the mining industry remain integral to the identity of Shuinandong and its neighboring towns¹ .
